Fenty - Rihanna Changing Traditional Rules of Fashion
Rihanna has partnered up with LVMH to create her own luxury fashion line, Fenty. After the success of her makeup brand, Fenty beauty she is now venturing into a world of fashion. A lot of women look at Rihanna as a fashion icon and their inspiration, people are curious to know what this celebrity designer can bring to the table. The highly anticipated launch of the Fenty label was held in Paris on the 23rd of May, attended by with notable editors, press and fashion insiders.
This launch did not follow the usual route of a fashion label instead it was presented on Rihanna herself. She didn’t want to have a fashion show to launch the collection because she herself as a millennial wouldn’t want to see pieces on the runway and wait 6 months to purchase them. Rihanna believes that this is where fashion is going eventually. The collection aims to celebrate women in their own best form, bringing sizes up to size 18.
Brands must learn to adapt and be a forward thinker while improving their own brand. Like Rihanna, she builds her brand from personal experience because she knows the difficulty of finding quality clothing that fits her body curves. Hence she created this collection that brings out her curves and thickness, every piece is something that looks good on her. The pieces of the collection are gender fluid and everyone can easily find a wardrobe staple that they can keep for a long time.
